He completely misunderstood the assignment. It's supposed to be shocking or funny that you find the character you choose decorate the cake with attractive.

It's pretty clear that this was a really misguided attempt to get our protagonist's attention. In any case, it's great that their manager took it seriously and taught him a lesson. It's a bit of a red flag that he won't own up to his mistake or apologize, though.

18-year-old busboy features 22-year-old coworker in viral 'Hear Me Out Cake' video without her permission, manager takes her seriously and reprimands him: 'He said he would take it down but never once actually said sorry'
Unless you've been hiding in a cabin in the woods without wifi and far from human civilization for the last 6 months, you likely know all about the "Hear Me Out Cake" trend. Teenagers and young adults take turns decorating cakes with printed-out pictures of conventionally unattractive characters from TV shows and movies, celebrities, and even brand mascots that they find charming. Cartoons are a popular choice as people get to confess to their weirdest childhood crushes. Putting characters that were meant to be endearing garners very little hype, so the more absurd or bizarre the crush, the funnier it is. For example, some claim to be attracted to the number 8 or Microsoft's Clippy.
In our story today, a young woman finds her own visage adorned on a coworker's "Hear Me Out Cake." Given the context of the trend, she is at first offended, wondering if he is calling her unattractive by featuring her in this trend. Then she realizes that she never gave him permission to post her face at all, and that this whole thing was incredibly creepy regardless of his intentions. So, she takes action. Scroll down for all the deets.
